Henley Stone Specialists, part of the Henley Construction Management Group, has been appointed to deliver the glass reinforced concrete elements for the first phase of Our Cultural Heart, Kirklees Council’s flagship regeneration scheme to revitalise Huddersfield town centre.

Being delivered by Bam Construction, the first phase of this redevelopment focuses on transforming Huddersfield’s 1970s market building into a new food hall and community library hub, connected by a new public square.

Glass reinforced concrete (GRC) has been selected for its strength, fire resistance, design flexibility and lightweight properties.

Wakefield-based Henley Stone Specialists has been appointed to deliver the full GRC package, from early design coordination through to manufacture, logistics, and on-site installation.

Henley Construction Management Group construction director Dave Cawley said: “As a business rooted in West Yorkshire, it means a great deal to be involved in a regeneration project of this scale and significance right here in our group’s region. From the outset, we have worked closely with Bam to support early-stage design detailing and logistics, ensuring the GRC package integrates smoothly with the wider programme. This is about more than installation, it is about smart planning, collaboration, and adding value to a transformational project in a place we are proud to call home.”

Bam construction manager Matt Garnett added: “We are committed to collaborating with regional specialists who understand the area, its challenges, and its potential. Henley Stone Specialist’s knowledge of both the product and the area makes them a valuable partner in achieving that vision.”
