Imperial College has paid £30m for a 1.8 acre site in North Acton where it intends to seek planning permission for a 700-bed development.
Completion is targeted for September 2020.
The development is on Wales Farm Road, close to the college’s existing accommodation at Woodward Buildings, which opened in September 2015, and to North Acton Underground station.
Director of campus services Jane Neary said: “Like Woodward Buildings, the new hall will meet the demand from students for single en suite rooms in purpose designed accommodation. This new development will be a great addition to our accommodation portfolio, and will enable us to offer a greater range of cheaper bed space options to our students.”
