The £5.1m contract follows an earlier £16m phase, which saw ISG build a high specification retirement village around grade II* listed Mote House, a derelict, country residence that is situated within 450 acres of public parkland in Mote Park. The second stage of the development will focus on the internal transformation of Mote House itself, the external renovation having taken place in the earlier phase.
Once completed, Mote House will have 12 high specification apartments across two upper floors, along with a restaurant, bar/bistro and library. The existing basement will also be reconfigured, where ISG will develop offices, treatment rooms and a gym, together with two further apartments.
Next to the house there will also be an underground swimming pool built, with a domed concrete roof that will be grassed over. The project also encompasses the fit out of 10 existing two bedroom cottages in the Walled Garden, which will complete later this year. Renovation of the listed building will complete in summer 2012.
