JCB India adds new engines to its range

7 Apr 11 JCB India has announced the launch of its own domestically built fuel-efficient 16-valve diesel engine range. The new engines will be introduced progressively to power its equipment.

Production starts this month and approximately 40,000 engines will be produced per year at JCB India's facility in Ballabgarh.

"We are delighted to launch the BSIII-compliant JCB engine ecoMAX in India," said JCB India managing director and CEO Vipin Sondhi. "These world class engines are a testimony to the immense hard work put in by JCB teams from the UK and India working together." He added that the company will immediately start powering its 3DX backhoe loader with JCB engines and that many other models in our range will follow. "India plays a vital role in JCB's global expansion plans and this development marks another step towards JCB's growth in India".

The JCB engines will come in the range of 76-150 hp (57-112kW) and will be naturally aspirated, turbo-charged or common rail. They will be pressurised by a high-pressure rotary pump. The block, bedplate design and crankshaft dimensions are similar to the JCB Dieselmax engine.

They have been designed to give high fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs, according to the company, and the machines will now have a single point support for warranty.

JCB India's range includes backhoe loaders, excavators, compaction equipment, wheeled loading shovels and skid steer loaders. JCB has recently sold its 100,001st machine in India. The compay said that 1 in 2 items of construction equipment sold in India is a JCB.
