Production for North America and Europe has just begun this week. There are five models in the series with lifting capacities ranging from the 60t CK 600 G to 250t CK 2500 G. North American designations are CK 850G (85 US tons) to CK 2750G (275 US tons).

Kobelco says that the new models have been “designed, upgraded and improved from the customer’s point of view with safety, reliability and efficiency in mind.”

All G-series models are equipped with new engines compliant with EPA Interim Tier IV and EURO stage IIIB. The rated output of the new engines have been upgraded from the previous series and tuned up for the best fit in crane operations.

A new energy-saving assist system called the “G Mode” system reduces fuel consumption by 30%, Kobelco claims. G Mode is a generic name for the assist systems such as Auto Idle Stop System, Energy Saving Winch Control System and Engine RPM Limitation System.

Kobelco also says that it has redesigned the structure by repositioning the engine to make it narrower for transporting it.

The new models have an improved counterweight self installation mechanism. Counterweights can be stacked up on the ground and installed on the machine by vertical cylinders.
