The product assists the user to meet increasingly demanding construction and manufacturing time constraints and standards when using Kodi Klip instead of tying wire or welding. Kodi Klips make cross, parallel and vertical rebar connections with ease, providing the user with more stable ties that maintain the cage or mat structure and simplify transport, inspection and pouring of concrete.

The product is the brainchild of Jon Kodi, a steel fixer by trade from California, now based at the home of Kodi Klip Corp, Nashville, Tessasee. He wasa general contractor with 35 years in the construction business whose family built much of Palm Springs, California. The conditions on sites were miserable and as he watched his crews struggle he decided that there had to be an easier way to tie reinforcement bar.
Fastening rebar with wire ties, the preferred method for more than a century had always been a time-consuming process that injured workers, created construction bottlenecks and produced unstable and inconsistent connections. Generation after generation of inventors had tried to replace the outdated methods but none of the solutions caught on. None of the new inventions seemed capable of withstanding the demands of real life construction, nor did they address any of the most pressing issues contractors faced. Jon’s invention did and the result was Kodi Klip.
Kodi Klips are made from a hard polycarbonate compound used in bullet proof vests with a blend of polymer additives that provide sufficient malleability to form around the bar whilst retaining the required memory to grip the bar with sufficient force to provide that is used in an extremely strong connection. Kodi Klips and the light-weight, high-powered application tool ties rebar in milliseconds, vastly reducing the time taken to complete cages, bridge decks, flooring, mats or any other type of reinforcement. The system has three main principle advantage areas, speed, safety and technical improvement over existing systems.
The system is fast, very fast. With capabilities of clipping well over 1000 clips per hour once the steel is laid out, the speed of the system is second-to-none.Kodi Klip enables steel fixers to make more connections faster and move on to the next job quickerand hence considerable savings can be made in time and manpower. Reloading or changing the tool takes only a few seconds and is extremely simple. Current methods such as hand tying, welding or electric tying guns are labour intensive and very slow compared to Kodi Klip. It offers huge time savings as it is considerably faster than the electric wire guns and up to ten times faster than hand tying. The easily mastered application tool means time can be cut teaching workers how to weld or tie allowing unskilled labour to be used to make rebar connections whilst deploying skilled labour to where it’s needed most.
Safety is key point with the Kodi Klip system. The installation tools promotes healthy arm and wrist functions by vastly reducing the repetitive strain associated with wire tying by hand. Workers who use the system report that it is easier on their bodies than traditional methods, enabling them to accomplish more. The hand vibration figures are so low they can barely be measured meaning that workers can use the tools for full shifts without risk. The clips themselves have no sharp barbs or points like wire does. Over welding, the implications are vast, not only in saved time but operation of the system produces no harmful fumes, intense light or burn risks that compromises workmen’s well-being. The pneumatic tool has safety devices built in to avoid accidental firing and comes with CE approval.
Kodi Klips offer technical improvement over existing methods also. They grip tight around the bar and are extremely strong which creates rigid connections that eliminate the need for any re-tying after transporting cages from steel fixing to casting areas in all but extreme conditions. Until now, nothing on the market has been able to offer such rigidity except welding which not only comes with a host of health and safety issues, it affects the composition of the bar not to mention potentially dangerous if incorrectly done. The four-point grip enables rebar cages to remain intact and in place even with the weight of being walked on or lifted. Our non-corrosive clips deliver consistent holding power to each connection. Kodi Klips are inert in concrete whist assists in adding to the life expectancy of concrete products and reducing spauling by ensuring concrete cover is not reduced by pieces of exposed, highly corrosive carbon steel tying wire. It also offers the opportunity to vastly reduce or even eliminate stainless steel tying wire for corrosion sensitive concrete products.
