This has been achieved by extending the superstructure, which has also allowed for the superstructure ballast to be reduced from 190t to 150t. Depending on the boom length, central ballast of up to 65t may be added.
The 600t capacity crane was purpose-designed for wind turbine erection - it can install 3 MW generators on 100m towers. Being able to move while fully rigged saves contractors many hours not having to de-rig and re-rig between each turbine location.
