Lindner entered the international facades market in 2006 when it purchased the assets of Schmidlin (UK) and formed Lindner Schmidlin Facades, recently renamed Lindner Facades. Lindner can offer both external envelope and internal fit-out to clients and the addition of Prater, which operates from seven locations across the UK, is designed to pave the way for expansion.
Both businesses are family owned.
Prater brand name, management and 300 employees will remain unchanged by the acquisition.
Lindner Facades is already established in the UK bespoke facades market, having worked on projects such as Heathrow Terminal Five and Greenwich Peninsula.
Prater has worked on Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium, Westfield White City retail development and the new Olympic Stadium.
Lindner Group UK chief executive Jürgen Wax said: “Prater is a highly reputable and profitable entity with a trading history of 60 years, so we are really looking forward to sharing business with them. We expect significant synergy effects for both parties in sales, manufacture, design, engineering, product development, implementation and international expansion.”
Prater chairman Michael Prater said: “The two family businesses are an excellent strategic and cultural fit. Lindner provides us with an excellent opportunity to expand our business activities to an international level.”
Prater has an annual turnover of £65m. Disciplines include rainscreen and rendered façade systems, composite cladding, glazed curtain walling, single-ply membranes, structural waterproofing as well as aluminium and traditional metal standing seam roofing systems. The
