Created in 1977, the company was privately owned until 2002 when it was acquired by Altran UK, a subsidiary of the French firm Altran Technologies.

Hilson Moran has more than 200 employees and was named Medium Consultant of the Year award by the Association of Consulting Engineers last year.

The management buyout was funded with assistance from Albion Ventures and led by managing director Chris Plummer, who said “We are delighted with the progress the company has been making in a difficult market and to have had the opportunity to re-acquire the business. Returning to private ownership will enable us to continue to develop the business in the direction that we choose, focusing on the needs of our clients, our employees and the technological challenges of this environmentally progressive age.

“Hilson Moran is a 35-year old business with a strong identity and successful track record.  Renewed independence gives us the agility and autonomy to respond quickly to a changing market and clients’ evolving needs."

Hilson Moran is working on some of the most well known projects in London, including 20 Fenchurch Street (‘the Walkie Talkie’) and the Olympic Athletes Village.
