The extension to the facilities management contract sees Interserve continuing to provide a range of services, including building maintenance, catering, cleaning, waste and utilities management, at over 450 sites across the north and southwest of England, the Midlands and Wales.
Interserve has been providing facilities services to the MoJ for eight years. It also provides the ministry with probation services for low and medium-risk offenders in five areas of England (Cheshire & Greater Manchester; Hampshire & the Isle of Wight; Humberside, Lincolnshire & North Yorkshire; Merseyside; and West Yorkshire).
In addition, under a separate contract, Interserve has just been named as preferred bidder to run six employment workshops at HMP Berwyn, a large prison under construction on the outskirts of Wrexham.
Brian Talbot, managing director for central government and defence at Interserve, said: “We have a strong understanding and insight into what really matters to the MoJ and this particular opportunity to extend our facilities management services affords us the opportunity to continue make a real difference in helping the MoJ reduce reoffending and deliver more efficiently.”
