The VB9 Eco is a mobile lighting tower with a 9m hydraulic mast. By using a smaller diesel engine combined with a series of electronics, it uses 75% less fuel that traditional light towers, the manufacturer says.  Tower Light has calculated that operating the Eco units can save a contractor more than £300 per month in fuel.

Vinci Construction UK, one of A-Plant’s largest customers, has already taken more than 40 of the lighting units for its sites around the country.

Vinci plant manager Andrew Thomsett said: “We have a number of Eco tower lights on hire from A-Plant, the latest being the VB9 Eco tower light. The key reason in increasing the amount of VB9s on hire is because it addresses and brings together genuine environment qualities in terms of lower fuel consumption, resulting in a reduced number of trips to site for refuelling, whilst continuing to maintain safe and proper lighting. The VB9 tower light is a visible statement of our commitment to the environment.”
