CJ Pryor has been running Volvo articulated haulers for three decades, including 860s, 861s A25s and 30s. The six new A30Fs have been put to work on several new contracts the company has been awarded.

“With our contracts portfolio expanding we needed to add new haulers to the fleet and opted for the reliability and product support we have enjoyed in the past from Volvo,” said plant director Mick Munn. “And not least the strong residual values when it’s time to replace them.”

With a carrying capacity of 28 tonnes and heaped capacity of 18.1m³ the Volvo A30F has a maximum speed of 53kph. The trucks supplied to C J Pryor (Plant) Ltd have the optional cantilever tailgates and side extensions fitted for maximum load retention. The new F-Series trucks are fitted with Volvo’s CareTrack telematics system as standard.

All six trucks have been supplied with Volvo’s Blue Service Agreement coupled to a three-year 6,000-hour driveline warranty.

The A30F hauler is powered by a Stage IIIB compliant, electronically controlled, six cylinder 265hp turbo charged Volvo V-ACT diesel engine. The high torque at low engine speed means good fuel efficiency, high performance, quicker engine response and less wear, Volvo says. The engine is matched to a torque converter with built-in lock-up function and fitted with an automatic fast adaptive transmission. The rest of the Volvo designed and built powertrain has been reinforced to cope with the higher torque output of the engine.

Volvo says that the F-Series models are up to 4% more fuel efficient than the E-Series machines.
