Mouchel loses a third of its value

30 Mar 11 Mouchel shares crashed 50% on the stock market yesterday after the engineering and support services firm rejected takeover bids from Interserve and Costain.

The share price fell from 147.5p at close on 28 March to 101p at close yesterday (29 March), wiping £60m of its market capitalisation.

This time a year ago Mouchel was trading at around the 200p mark. By the 3 December the price had troughed at 56.5p. They had risen to around 150p by the end of February as takeover talks reached a crescendo.

After Mouchel's kickback yesterday, its bidders were largely unaffected, with Costain ending the day up 5p to 257p and Interserve gaining 1p to 272,75p.
