“Hunter residents and businesses expect and deserve modern infrastructure, which is why we are investing $280 million dollars towards the fifth and final stage of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass Bypass,” said premier Mike Baird.
Sections of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass have opened progressively since the early 1980s.
An environmental assessment will be carried out shortly and the concept design will be finalised. Construction is due to begin in 2017.
The 3.4km four-lane dual-carriageway road will include a grade-separated interchange and bridge structures for drainage, fauna movements and bushwalker access.
