PCP adds seven Liebherr truck-mount concrete pumps to its fleet

21 Feb 14 Professional Concrete Pumping (PCP), previously known as Pochins, has bought the UK’s first Liebherr truck-mounted concrete pumps in the UK.

Liebherr has been in this market only since 2012 when it acquired pump manufacturer Waitzinger, a rare example of Liebherr acquiring technology rather than developing its own.

PCP has ordered seven of the new Liebherr truck-mounted concrete pumps. Two are the THP 140 37 model, which is a 37-metre pump with a 140m3/hr capacity. Four are the THP 110 24 model, a slightly smaller 24-metre pump with 110m3/hr capacity. The seventh unit is a THP 125, a 36-metre pump that will be displayed at the Concrete Show in Birmingham later this month. (27-28 February, see www.concreteshow.co.uk for details.)

The three larger pumps all feature the XXT variable outrigger technology from Liebherr that allows the pump to be set up in confined and difficult spaces while maximising pumping capabilities across the front of the cab (as illustrated below). The outriggers can be independently configured and the boom will only move into a safe position. The real time monitoring of operations enhances safety on site and gives PCP the maximum flexibility and customer service.

PCP managing director Peter Liddle said: “After careful research we concluded that the Liebherr pumps were the best available in the market. We were particularly impressed with their Variable Outrigger System, which provides not only a safer working environment but also greater flexibility to our operators to meet the customer’s needs on site.”
