The BBA approval covers Ridgistorm-XL in 750-900mm diameter with its rubber seal, push-fit joint in both perforated and non-perforated form for attenuation and infiltration applications. Ridgistorm-XL was assessed against three key performance factors to test the strength, joint integrity and durability of the pipe system. Design of the pipe system, installation guidance and ongoing maintenance provisions were also considered during the product’s testing to assess its technical specifications and ensure the product performs as expected once installed.
Certification and testing plays a vital role in Polypipe WMS’ new product development, ensuring that its market-leading products offer proven performance accredited by third parties. In addition to its BBA certification, 750-900mm Ridgistorm-XL also carries approval from the Highways Authorities’ Product Approval Scheme (HAPAS) to verify its use in road and highways projects.
Dr Jason Shingleton, Marketing and Development Director for Polypipe WMS explains the importance of independent testing and certification. “As the leading manufacturer of plastic drainage products we have invested heavily in our manufacturing capability and production processes. Third party accreditation is the next step for us in providing our customers with the confidence that not only do we adopt the latest production techniques and technology to manufacture the best products, we support this with independent testing.
“In a market that can still be tempted into cost-driven specification, we encourage engineers, contractors and developers to utilise independently tested, certified products as the consequences of not doing so can be costly to rectify.”
Ridgistorm-XL is ideally suited to large-scale pipeline, soakaway and attenuation projects within the civil engineering and construction industries and is safer, quicker and easier to handle and install than traditional rigid materials.
