The models are a 60t rated LTR 1060 and a 100t rated LTR 1100.

Select, part of the Laing O'Rourke group, already has 10 Liebherr LR type crawler lift cranes and two HS duty cycle crawler cranes, with capacities ranging from 65t to 160t, all made in Austria. These latest additions to Select’s Liebherr fleet, and its first crawlers from the Ehingen factory in Germany, have been put to work on Edinburgh’s tram project and London’s Gateway Port project.

The LTR 1060 and LTR 1100 combine the advantages of a telescopic crane with those of a crawler crane, producing versatile lifters with short set-up times, a variable jib system and good off-road capability and travel performance under full load. To make them easier to transport, the tracks can be retracted to 3m width on the LTR 1060 and 3.5m width on the LTR 1100,

The LTR 1060 has a 40m telescopic main boom, a 2.5m assembly jib and a double swing-away fly-jib at 9.5m to 16m in length, achieving a maximum height-under-hook of 54.5m.

The LTR 1100 has a 52m telescopic main boom, a 2.9m assembly jib and a double swing away fly-jib at 10.8m to 19m in length. The self-assembly system allows fast and economical ballasting, with 32t of rear counterweight and 15t of central ballast. In cramped conditions the crawlers can be retracted hydraulically to a chassis width of 3.5m and, on this narrow crawler track configuration, the LTR1100 can conduct crane operations.

A Liebherr’s latest cranes are fitted with GSM technology to give an on-board link between the customer and the manufacturer’s after-sales engineers to assist in diagnostics and fault-finding should the need arise.
