Theiss team signs Queensland rail contract

28 Nov 11 A team headed by Theiss has signed a AU$475m rail project in south east Queensland, Australia.

Aecom and Aurecon are also in the winning team.

Work on the Darra to Springfield transport corridor stage two Richlands to Springfield project will be carried out by TrackStar Alliance.  As the alliance’s main contractor, the net contract value to Thiess is AU$285m (£173m).

The announcement of the project was made by the Queensland Government in February, with the terms of the contract signed this month.

The civil works include the construction of two new stations as well as a 900m-long, 15m-high viaduct across the Logan Motorway Interchange. Queensland Rail  is both the client and a partner within the Alliance for the 9.5km section.

The dual-track passenger rail line is scheduled for completion in 2013.
