A Level 2 ROPS and FOPS cab is available on Thwaites’ 9-tonne forward tip, 6-tonne forward tip and 6-tonne powerswivel dumpers.
The reasoning is to protect the driver from falling objects or in the event of an overturn.
There is also an integrated camera system to give the operator 360-degree visibility.
Thwaites engineering manager Bob McElvogue said: “The inclusion of these critical safety features will significantly reduce the risk of site incident, accident or near miss. Having listened carefully to our customers, it was important that due consideration was applied to operator ergonomics. Our highly skilled and experienced engineering design team here at our Warwickshire manufacturing plant, have strategically developed and applied improvements to driver comfort that will reduce operator fatigue and improve on site productivity.”
The cab is finished with tinted side and rear glass to reduce solar gain for operator comfort and safety. The cab heater and ventilation system has dust and pollen filters.
There is also a Bluetooth radio and a twin USB charging port.
