The Queensland government is inviting organisations to register their interest in the design and construction contract. It has requested that GoldLinQ - the current operator - initiate industry engagement to investigate the 7.3km extension of the light railway from Gold Coast University Hospital to Helensvale. The project is will enable a seamless public transport connection from the existing Gold Coast Light Rail to heavy rail services and Brisbane.
GoldLinQ invites organisations to apply for registration to submit an expression of interest. A key objective of the project is to ensure operation prior to the Commonwealth Games in early 2018.
GoldLinQ, as operator franchisee under the existing PPP contract for the first stage, will lead the procurement process for the project.
