The all-electric pump truck is able to drive 50 km and then pump approximately 50 cubic metres of concrete on a single charge.
For longer distances, or for larger quantities of concrete, a combined charging system (CCS2) charging solution is require but it is possible to keep pumping concrete while the truck is being recharged.
The new machine is the result of a collaboration between concrete pump manufacturer Putzmeister and Volvo Trucks, commissioned by Swerock, one of Sweden’s largest suppliers of concrete and part of the Peab group.
The four-axle truck, 32-tonne machine is being displayed by Putzmeister this week at the Bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany. It is based on a Volvo FM Electric 8x4 Rigid Tag Tridem, with four batteries in a specially developed energy storage system with total capacity of 360kWh, of which 250kWh is useable.
