With no running water to the site, there were no lavatory facilities or drinking water. More than 4,000 people currently work on the Athletes' Village.
Services are expected to be repaired and back in operation for work to resume today.
A spokesman for the Olympic Delivery Authority said: "The health and safety of our workforce is our number one priority and following damage to a water main supplying welfare facilities, work has temporarily been halted."
