Wates expands Corby school

1 Dec 16 Wates Construction has started work on a £6.8m extension at Corby Technical School in Northamptonshire.

The project is being overseen by Pick Everard as project manager and quantity surveyor. Client is the Brooke Weston Trust.

The scheme includes a two-storey 3,308 m2 extension to the existing school, as well as the provision of more car parking space outside. Construction work is due to be completed by October 2017.

“Our appointment to Corby Technical School is a great opportunity for us to build upon our reputation as a proficient contractor for the education sector, which has seen Wates lead over 70 school projects across the Midlands in the past five years,” said John Carlin, director of Wates Construction Midlands.

Matt Isherwood, director of estates for the Brooke Weston Trust, said: “The Trust is delighted to be working with Wates Construction and Pick Everard on this multi-million pound expansion which will provide excellent additional facilities including new sixth form provision and updated classrooms. It will allow us to double the number of students we accommodate, from a current total of 75 in Year 7 to 150 on completion.”
