The contractor will build a 4,320m2 facility for 350 pupils aged 7 to 11 years. There will be classrooms and a main school hall to replace the existing Cholmeley House library and teaching block, which will be demolished as part of the project.
Construction starts this month and will also include refurbishment and re-roofing works to Highgate Junior School’s Ingleholme Building, one of only a few remaining 19th century ‘villa’ houses in Highgate.
Designed by Architype, the scheme will incorporate energy efficiency measures to enhance sustainability, including photovoltaic panels and a green roof. The building will also follow Passivhaus principles and use triple glazing to all windows.
Completion is scheduled for the end of 2015.
