Willmott Dixon was selected to extend and refurbish Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph a year ago and has since then been working up detailed design for the scheme. At that time the contract value was given as £13.9m. The council says it is now £15.9m, with the funding split between Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh government.
Willmott Dixon Construction was selected in October 2014 following a competitive tendering process via the North Wales Construction Framework.
The company has now submitted its contractor proposals for the project. Subject to final assessments it is anticipated that the council will formally award the contract in late October.
The redevelopment of the school will see the creation of a new three storey extension linked to the existing buildings. Some of the existing accommodation will be demolished whilst the retained buildings will be remodelled and refurbished.
