Willmott Dixon starts on High Wycombe sports complex

15 May 14 Willmott Dixon has begun construction of a new £25m sports and leisure development in High Wycombe for Wycombe District Council.

Designed by AFLS+P architects, the 10,750 m² rectangular Wycombe Sports Centre will be clad in copper and aluminium panels that have four different finishes.

Facilities inside the centre will include a 12-court sports hall, an eight-lane 50m swimming pool, a sub-aqua dive pit, a 150 station gym, a four-rink indoor bowls hall, two squash courts, a climbing wall and a café.

As part of the council’s Handy Cross Hub redevelopment project, there will also be a multi-storey car park, a food store, and a coach park and ride terminus.

The current Wycombe Sports Centre will remain open while the new leisure centre is built alongside it, on the current site of the running track. Construction is scheduled to be complete by October 2015.
