Lancashire Constabulary is replacing the Bonny Street police station in Blackpool with a new facility on Clifton Road, near the M55 motorway.
Willmott Dixon was awarded the construction contract through Scape’s national major works framework, having previously built similar police stations in Newcastle, West Midlands, South Yorkshire and South Wales. Willmott Dixon has developed a standardised offering called CODE with a range of pre-designed custody suites, designed with NORR Architects.
The new Blackpool station, designed by McBains Cooper, will have 42 cells.
Willmott Dixon regional managing director Anthony Dillon said: “We’ll be taking our learning from other police forces and applying this experience here.”
