The 245XR crawler excavator, launched by JCB last year, competes in the 22-26 tonne reduced swing market.

At just 1,720mm, the 245XR has a tail swing that is 40% shorter than the conventional 220X, with which it shares many features.

Dealer Greenshields JCB has supplied four units to Wooldridge Group, each equipped with a Leica 3D guidance system and Engcon tiltrotator.

Nobby Grimes, Wooldridge’s senior operations director, said: “JCB has always been on our radar so when we were looking to invest in some zero tailswing machines we thought we’d try the JCB 245XR. Our operators had always wanted JCBs and we were really impressed with them.

“We work on mainly residential sites so the zero tailswing feature is really useful in tight spaces. The machines are easy to manoeuvre, the fuel economy is fantastic and it saves wear on the tracks.”
