As previously reported, the bulk of the builders' merchant's network and the WT Burdens name were acquired by Wolseley for £30m in November. Having agreed the sale of the WT Burdens name to Wolseley, along with 22 of its 38 branches, the remaining business was rebranded WTB Trading. Administrators from Duff & Phelps were subsequently called in.
Following their appointment to the company on 23 November 2012, Philip Duffy, Steve Clancy and David Whitehouse of Duff & Phelps have now sold more depots.
The sale of the Dorchester and Cinderford branches has been bought by Bradfords. The Swindon deport has been bought by MPS. Graftons has bought Fareham & Olney. Heathrow has gone to Carboclass/Lords. Tippers has taken over the Nuneaton depot.
All employees have been transferred to the respective purchasers under TUPE.
Residual branches continue to operate as a going concern while buyers are sought
Philip Duffy said: “The Burdens brand is well known and affiliated with quality with a strong established client base. We are delighted that this has proved to be attractive for a number of buyers ensuring the successful sale of the depots so far, thus preserving the business and jobs. There is interest expressed in the remaining branches which we will continue to trade as a going concern whilst we continue discussions with those parties considering acquiring some, or all of the remaining branches.”
