The new Hyundai HX19e weighs in at 2,296kg, when equipped with a full cab and large capacity battery pack.
Hyundai has identified target markets as urban utilities, landscaping and gardening, tunnel and basement excavation and for local authority applications such as cemeteries and sports facilities.
The HX19e will be offered with a choice of two lithium-ion battery packs, delivering 32kWh and a 40kWh capacity, which is almost double the capacity of some competitor machines, Hyundai says. The 40kWh battery will allow customers to work for up to 6 hours 40 minutes between charges, Hyundai promises, with a break time top-up delivering full shift useability.
The machine is equipped with a Type 2 connector, allowing customers to use existing EV charging infrastructure. The intelligent on-board charging unit can be used with 110V or 230V supply, offering a full recharge time of less than five hours for the smaller 32kWh battery and six hours for the 40kWh.
The HX19e is also equipped with a Rema DIN 320 connector that permits rapid charging when 380V and 44V supply is available. In this case, a full recharge can take as little as two hours for the smaller battery and two-and-a-half hours for the larger model.
The batteries power a 13kW electric motor that in turn drives an open centre hydraulic system. This delivers similar performance to Hyundai’s diesel-powered HX19A mini excavator, which is powered by a 12.1kW engine, the manufacturer says. The machine boasts the same 16kN bucket breakout force along with a slightly higher 9.4kN dipper arm breakout force. Maximum digging depth is 2,340 mm and maximum digging reach is 3,940 mm.

With battery management crucial to getting the best out of an electric machine, the HX19e will come with a five-year Hi-Mate subscription as standard. This will provide customers with a remote monitoring facility to help with fleet management.
Biodegradable Panolin VG46 hydraulic oil is also standard, reducing the risk of contamination in the event of spills.
Hyundai will offer the machine with just four selectable options. This will include a choice of cab or canopy, plus the two battery capacities. All models will have a high standard specification, including safety valves on the main boom, dipper arm and dozer blade hydraulic cylinders. Two-way auxiliary hydraulic piping allows the machine to be used with a range of attachments and there are hydraulics for an optional quick coupler. The HX19e is also equipped with LED booms lights and rotating beacon, an MP3 radio with USB connectivity and an operator’s seat with mechanical suspension.
Hyundai is launching the HX19e at the Bauma 2025 trade fair in Munich, 7th to 13th April. Full production of the machine will start in April 2025.
Also at Bauma, Hyundai Construction Equipment will launch the HS80V and HS120V skid steer loaders, along with the HT100V compact tracked loader, powered by Hyundai Stage V diesel engines, taking the company into new market sectors.
