Commercial Delivery Manager

Job Description

Gleeson Logistics are partnering with a business that is looking for a Delivery Manager (Rail / Transport). This Opportunity is best suited towards a professional looking to grow in a fast pace transport business.

Job Title: Delivery Manager

Work Type: Hybrid

Package: £55,000 +

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage specific assigned requirements, ensuring business areas are well-informed, prepared, and able to fulfil commitments to customers.
  • Maintain ongoing oversight and support for projects post-handover to ensure continuity between original requirements and final outcomes.
  • Represent the Internal Team in meetings such as project reviews and deliver ability assessments.
  • Provide additional engineering and project resources to the Investment Team as needed, including support for new build/acquisition bidding and pricing related to the release of existing fleets.
  • Take charge of specific lease, customer, or strategic requirements, managing the handover from the Internal Team to other business functions.
  • Ensure effective use of Investment Team resources and retain oversight throughout the delivery phase.
  • Regularly review fleets, leases, and fleet strategies to identify revenue maximisation opportunities through additional rental-funded upgrades.
  • Collaborate with the Sustainability Team and supply chain partners to deliver feasibility studies and business cases for future opportunities.
  • Provide engineering and project support to the Senior Commercial Delivery Manager, particularly focusing on Freight Team activities.
  • Support the Team with technical aspects of new build bidding and proposals.
  • Provide additional resource and support to Commercial Engineering to ensure timely completion of the pricing process for re-leasing opportunities.
  • Assist in maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Keep updated on supply chain capabilities, capacity, and pricing to support feasibility and bidding.
  • Support delivery teams in customer engagement and external leadership.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered status
  • 4 Years + Rail / Transport Sector.
  • Professional qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Understanding of vehicle maintenance and overhaul requirements.
  • Awareness of safety cases, certification issues, railway risks, group standards, and industry legislation.
  • Ability to review and comment on engineering instructions and drawings.
  • Project management skills.
  • Understanding of financial principles.
  • Knowledge of leasing principles is beneficial.
  • Experience in the rail industry, rail franchising, and rolling stock is advantageous but not essential.
