The first 150m length was completed in July and put into use straightaway. This week’s completion of the final 170m has enabled Limbe Shipyard to become fully operational, giving a boost to the region’s economy. The shipyard is situated 80km north of Douala, Cameroon’s main commercial city.
The 320m-long quay wall was built under a design and construct contract. It consists of an underwater concrete foundation with 55t blocks on top. In total, 1,369 blocks have been installed in a water depth of 12m to 18m.
Sister company BAM Infraconsult was responsible for the design of the quay wall.
