BAM completes Cameroon quay wall

7 Nov 14 BAM International has completed a €29m (£22.7m) quay wall for Cameroon Shipyard & Industrial Engineering at Limbe.

The first 150m length was completed in July and put into use straightaway.  This week’s completion of the final 170m has enabled Limbe Shipyard to become fully operational, giving a boost to the region’s economy. The shipyard is situated 80km north of Douala, Cameroon’s main commercial city.

The 320m-long quay wall was built under a design and construct contract. It consists of an underwater concrete foundation with 55t blocks on top. In total, 1,369 blocks have been installed in a water depth of 12m to 18m.

Sister company BAM Infraconsult was responsible for the design of the quay wall.
