II.1.4) Short description
Construction of a new Woodland Centre within Yarner Wood National Nature Reserve. This will replace an existing woodland centre that needs updating and currently offers very basic facilities.
The new centre will be entirely off-grid, using a combination of solar, log gasification and diesel generator for power. Water will be supplied from rainwater harvesting system and the new building will abstract water from the nearby Yarner stream.
The new centre will be designed to accommodate up to 25-30 visitors, providing basic kitchen facilities and three toilets.
Approximate GIFA is 150sqm.
A unique element of the build will be the use of locally felled Douglas Fir manufactured into glulam. The glulam will provide the structural portal frame and Defra will procure the glulam in readiness for the build.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
See above short description. In addition, RIBA 4 has been completed and planning will be fully approved by the Tender dates. This is a traditional build contract based on the RIBA 4 Technical design.

This PIN is to ascertain the likely interest of this project, which will be an Open tender. If interest levels are high then it will be a restricted open tender, if not then a normal one stage open tender.
