The proposed Destination Royal Hillsborough Programme with investment from Historic Royal Palaces (HRP), Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) and Belfast Regional City Deal (BRCD) aims to enhance and strengthen the position of Royal Hillsborough as a heritage village. This will attract visitors and enhance the village for the benefit of the locals, ensure its future protection and present Royal Hillsborough as a coherent and compelling tourism destination with a unique sense of place. The Programme proposal comprises £26m of capital investment across a variety of projects summarized below, the: 1. Development of Royal Hillsborough Forest, 2. Restoration and Development of Royal Hillsborough Courthouse, 3. Restoration and Development of the Fort as a Vibrant Heritage and Outdoor Events Space, 4. Development of a Social Enterprise Café in Royal Hillsborough Forest, 5. Development of Royal Hillsborough Public Realm, 6. Parking and Vehicular Access Infrastructure, 7. Digital Interpretation. The purpose of this procurement process is to successfully appoint a Project Manager led Integrated Consultancy Team (ICT) for projects two and three above, the Restoration and Development of Hillsborough Courthouse and the Restoration and Development of the Fort as a Vibrant Heritage and Outdoor Events Space respectively.
